The best swivels and clips for 2026
A swivel stops a spinning lure twisting the line into a spring, and it is the cheapest component on the site that can ruin a session by failing. Two figures are printed. The size, on the same inverted scale as hooks — « #3-#8 » in the Paradox Duo-Lock set of 150 at 15,99 €, « #8/#6/#5/#4/#2 » in the barrel swivel set of 150 at 10,99 €, « 4# 6# 8# 10# 12# 14# » on the Annyswit at 6,99 € — where a bigger number is a smaller swivel. And the breaking strain in kilos, which only the better listings give: 8–28 kg on the PERCH’N PIKE 125-piece at 16,99 €, 3–17 kg on its 75-piece triple-swivel set, 8–21 kg on the Kemfish 50-piece at 9,95 €. A 3 kg swivel on a pike rig is the weak link, and most cheap sets never state the figure. The build is what separates two sets at the same size, and the German is explicit: a « Tönnchenwirbel » is a barrel swivel, two eyes in a brass barrel, and it only really turns under load; a « Kugellagerwirbel » — on the ZWQLZG 150-piece at 6,89 € and the VEPEPE 100-piece at 6,99 € — has a ball bearing inside and turns at any tension, which is what a rotating spoon needs. The third variable is the clip: a « Duo-Lock Snap » on the Paradox and PERCH’N PIKE sets opens to change a lure in seconds, a plain swivel must be tied. A « Dreifachwirbel » — three-way swivel, on the Kemfish and PERCH’N PIKE — is a different object again, used to hang a dropper.
