Why the front rest is a V
The front of the rod is the blank — round, tapered and, at the moment of a take, moving.
A V lets it slide forward and lift out cleanly. A deep cradle grips it, and a grabbed rod takes the bankstick, the alarm and sometimes the pod with it.
That is why the two ends of a rod get two different shapes, and why this seller sells them as two references.
