The head that stands up

A round jig head lands on its side and the lure lies flat in the silt. A stand-up head lands flat and holds the body nose-down, tail-up, off the bottom — which is the posture of a feeding baitfish and the only one a predator recognises at rest.

Three details nobody else names together

The bait keeper, so the plastic does not slide down the shank. The blood-groove barb. The polished eye, so the knot is not sawn through.
